Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do you cater for Gluten Free and Vegetarians?

A. Yes, we always ensure we have options on all courses for Veggie (VG) and many of our dishes are naturally Gluten Free (GF) or can be adapted upon request (GFO)

Q. Do you cater for other alergies?

A. Yes, all our dishes are made in-house, our team will ask if there are any allergies or dietery needs when you are seated and Chef's will make alterations where possible. We operate a small kitchen so whilst dishes may be free of allegens and precautions taken, we cannot guarantee there will be no trace elements

Q. Do you have a children's menu?

A. We don't have a specific children's menu, but our Chef's are more than happy to offer a lunch dish or adapt an existing dish (portion size or ingredients) upon request, we can also adjust the price for smaller dishes for children. If there is nothing on the menu at all which is suitable, then with advance notice we can cater for your needs.

Q. Do you have parking?

A. We don't have our own parking, but guests can park on the residential streets locally. We are currently in talks with a local land owner to rent some spaces, so watch this space.

Q. Do you cater for large groups?

A. Yes, there are various options you can choose from, including our Garden Room for private dining up to 25 guests or you can book the whole Restaurant which seats 34-38 guests. We have booth seating 4 guests or a we can join tables for groups from 2 to 18 guests. We require a pre-order for parties of 10 or more and bookings of this size can only be made by phoning us.

Q. Can we book the whole venue?

A. YES! Deacon's Bank is available for private hire, we have hosted weddings, funerals, birthdays and baby showers. We can offer a range of packages to suit such as tasting or a la carte set menu or a luxury buffet. The best value packages are available on a Monday or Tuesday as these are days we are usually closed, and other days are available for a slightly more premium package. Give us a call to discuss your specific requirements.

Q. Can I book directly through the Michelin Guide?

A. From April 2026 we will be partnered with The Fork which is Michelin's exclusive partner. This means that you can book directly through the Michelin Guide from that point. For now, you can book in on the website or by giving us a call

Q. Do I need a reservation or can I just turn up?

A. We always recommend booking in advance, we do not take a deposit so it is nice and easy. We are very popular on Friday & Saturday Evenings and for Sunday Roast, so to guarantee a table and avoid disappointment it is always best to book in with us. That said, if you do turn up and we have available tables, you will always be welcome

Q. I made a booking and it says my table is needed back at a certain time, why?

A. As you can appreciate, we are a small restaurant of around 30 covers. To ensure that we are successful and keep our prices affordable, we sometimes have to turn over tables ready for another booking, so we pre-warn our guests in advance that we may need the table back at a particular time. Don't worry though, we give plenty of time and this is only relevant IF we do have a booking after you, chances are we may not. If you think you need more time to eat, just let us know in advance and we will do everything we can to extend your sitting time

Q. Do you sell gift vouchers?

A. Yes, just give us a call or pop in
